Pamper parties are fun at any time, but during pregnancy a ‘mum to be’ girls’ night in can be an especially good way to indulge and pamper your body as well as relaxing and taking some time out. Girls’ nights in are also great for mums to be to provide support and share pregnancy stories and plans for when the baby comes.
As with any pamper party, make sure you’re set up for company by tidying the house (you’ll be forgiven if it isn’t spotless) and making it comfortable by providing seating, cushions, candles and music. Make sure you’ve got a good stock of basic beauty products in, such as cotton pads and cleansing wipes, as well as cleanser, toner and moisturiser. Don’t forget about towels and face cloths. There’s no reason why you can’t have a spa quality experience in the comfort of your own home!
A pamper party is also the perfect opportunity to use your most desired mum to be products all together. Pampering gifts such as moisturisers, creams, luxurious bath and shower products, firming lotions for stretch marks and foot soaks are all great ideas, or why not put together a little hand-wrapped package to make it personalised?
If there are several mums to be in the group you could do a pamper party version of a secret Santa, with everyone assigned either an anonymous or identified person to give a gift to. Gifts can be shared and given for the mum to be to use at home whenever she likes.
For your girls’ night in, tailor treatments to mums to be, remembering that you might all be at different stages of pregnancy with different wants and needs. Starting off with hand creams and massage is a great idea to get everyone relaxed and chatting. Ask people to bring their own creams or share each other’s, swapping ideas and beauty tips along the way.
Hands are often a neglected part of our beauty routines, so it can feel especially pampering to have them gently rubbed and massaged. Don’t forget to soak them first, in gentle lukewarm to warm water, but not for long as this can dry them out.
Foot soaks are another great idea, and women towards the end of their pregnancy especially will be grateful for the chance to put their feet up. Many women in the third trimester suffer from tired and aching feet and legs, and ankles can become swollen and painful. Start by soaking and gently massaging feet and ankles, working your way up to the calves. You could use either a rich moisturiser to nourish or a cooling serum to refresh and invigorate.
Lastly, how about a facial? Especially during pregnancy your skin needs all the possible attention starting from your face. The use of a facial cleansing and nourishing oil will give you and your friends an immediate glowing look to perfectly complete your relaxing night in.
